St. ANN PLACE provides a variety of services all aimed at assisting homeless women and men have a better quality of life. These services include:
Hygiene: There are four shower rooms (two are full bathrooms) that are available to clients who are homeless. A container to store personal items for their use is kept at the Center for those who come regularly. Clients who come for a shower may leave six pieces of clothing to be laundered. Clean underwear and socks are given out as needed and a supply of shirts and pants are kept on hand for those who need them.
Food Program: Coffee and donuts are served from 8:00-9:00am. A lunch bag with a meat & cheese sandwich, a juice drink, and a package of crackers/chips is handed out from 10:00 to 11:30 am Monday thru Friday.
Health Care: At the time a new client comes for services one of the questions on the in-take form asks if they have medical insurance. If they do not have any, the Health Care Advocate interviews them and assists them to gather the data they need and helps them to enroll in the Health Care District in order to get medical coverage. This program also pays for prescriptions on an emergency basis and it will house a homeless person in a motel when they are discharged from the hospital after surgery
Special Assistance: Clients need a valid Florida ID to receive services at other agencies or to get day labor jobs. This program will pay the fee for clients to get or renew an expired ID or a birth certificate. In some cases emergency lodging at a local hotel is provided for a short period of time. Some funds are reserved for transportation needs. Clients may use St Ann Place’s address to receive mail and there is a phone available for local calls. Staff help clients to enroll for Food Stamps. Once a month, free haircuts are provided by a group of local stylists.
Housing: If a client keeps his/her job and has sufficient income to pay rent the Center will pay the first, last and security deposit to the landlord. It will also help a client who is on SSI to pay rent if their check has been delayed.
Job Support Program: This program helps clients who have found a job by purchasing uniforms, work boots, etc. for those who need them, buying the tools that the prospective employee may need to get the job or pays for licensing fees where needed. The goal of this program is to assist homeless people to get off the street and to support their efforts to make a better life for themselves.
